NATIONAL AIREDALE TERRIER ASSOCIATION JUDGING CRITERIA

If you wish to be considered for inclusion on the Association's Judging Lists, please download and complete the appropriate Judging Questionnaire:

Once complete, please return the form together with copy certificates if appropriate, to the Hon. Secretary for consideration by our Judges Sub-committee in due course.

 At a meeting held on 30 April 2000 the Officers and Committee of the National Airedale Terrier Association agreed that, before it can consider whether or nor any person should be added to the Association’s Judges Lists, that person shall have met the following criteria in all respects.

A1 LIST

For persons who have previously been approved by The Kennel Club to award CC’s in the breed and have completed their first appointment. To have the support of The National Airedale Terrier Association

A2 LIST

For persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list and have the support of The National Airedale Terrier Association.

A3 LIST

In respect of a specialist in the breed:

Must have completed the following:

a. Judged at least two Airedale Terrier Breed Club Shows (confined to the breed).

b. Completed at least seven years judging experience within the breed.

c. Judged at least forty-five classes restricted to the breed.

d. Judged at least 100 Airedale Terriers (absentees not to be included in the total).

e. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book. (Save in exceptional circumstances).

f. Demonstrated a consistent and active interest in the showing and welfare of the breed for a period of at least ten years (including the seven years judging experience required under (b) above.

g. To have stewarded at twelve shows (the names and dates of shows to be listed on the questionnaire form).

h. Must state that they are prepared to write show critiques as customarily required by the Dog Press.

i. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures.

j. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.

k. To have attended a Points of The Dog Hands-on Assessment conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment.

l. To have attended at least one breed specific judging seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

In respect of a non-specialist in the breed:

Must have completed the following:

a. Judged at least one Airedale Terrier Breed Club Shows (confined to the breed).

b. Awarded Challenge Certificates in at least one other breed.

c. Judged at least forty-five classes restricted to the breed.

d. Judged at least 100 Airedale Terriers (absentees not to be included in the total).

e. Must state that they are prepared to write show critiques as customarily required by the Dog Press.

f. To have a minimum of seven years judging experience in any one breed (to include five years in Airedale Terriers) and have the support of The National Airedale Terrier Association.

g. To have attended at least one breed specific judging seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

h. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book. (Save in exceptional circumstances).

In respect of foreign judges:

Any prospective judge from outside the jurisdiction of the Kennel Club must already have judged at a level comparable to Kennel Club Championship Shows within the jurisdiction of their own governing body.

Note:

The above criteria represent the minimum level of experience required for the Committee to consider a person’s name for inclusion to the A1, A2 or A3 Judges Lists of the National Airedale Terrier Association. Other relevant judging experience may be considered.

It should be emphasised that compliance with the relevant criteria in no way confers any rights to be included in the A1, A2 or A3 Judges Lists. All persons whose names are put before the Committee, and who meet the criteria, are considered on their merits and the Committee reserves the right to accept or reject the name of any person for inclusion in the said Judges Lists. Approval by the Committee for the inclusion of a person’s name on the Association’s A3 Judges List does not imply that approval would be given by the National Airedale Terrier Association for that person to be included on the A2 or A1 Judges Lists.

B LIST

Supported by the Committee to judge Airedale Terriers at shows where Challenge Certificates are not on offer.

Breed specialists:

a. To have five years experience owning and exhibiting in the breed.

b. To have judged six classes and a minimum of twelve dogs of the breed at Limited, Open or Championship Shows without CC’s.

c. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club  Regulations and Judging Procedures.

d. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.

e. To have attended a Points of The Dog Hands-on Assessment conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment.

Non specialists:

a. Minimum of five years judging experience in any one breed.

b. To have judged six classes and a minimum of twelve Airedale Terriers at Limited, Open or Championship Shows without CC’s (save in exceptional circumstances).

c. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures.

d. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.

e. To have attended a Points of The Dog Hands-on Assessment conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment.

C LIST

For aspirant judges who have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of the National Airedale Terrier Association.
